Seems like one of the coolest winters we've had in years! Water temperature is down to 64 degrees and more cool weather is on the way. The fish are adjusting to cooler water and with the lack of white bait they are fast to pounce on a live shrimp or in a Goliath's case a big live mullet. Kevin pictured below with his Goliath Grouper. These fish are catch and release only and can grow to be over 500lbs!
Inshore redfish and sheepshead are abundant. Anglers have been hooking up on light tackle penn fishing reels. Redfish remain closed to harvest to recover from the red tide, Sheepshead make a fun catch and a GREAT meal.
The cool water brings in the largest sheepshead from our nearshore wrecks. These fish can be caught on structure nearshore or inshore.
