Juvenile Snook have been on the prowl as well, cruising the bar on the east side of the harbor and a fun fight on artificial. Small lures working the best. Larger snook have been after cut bait on the bottom. I tagged the largest snook caught this week for Gray Fishtag Research. She measured 40 inches.
Did you know they reward anglers who report recaptures?! If you catch any fish with a Gray Fishtag Research tag, take a photo of fish with tag in place, get a measurement if you are able. Report it via their online form and they will send you a thank you package that includes some swag and Costa Sunglasses. Pretty cool right? There are tagged fish swimming on both coasts of Florida so anglers be on the look out!
With the full moon hanging around this weekend our tides have been low. From Charlotte Harbor to Gasparilla Sound the fish have been searching for deeper water. On the grass flats, trout have been a great bite all weekend. The kids on my last trip enjoyed them, keeping them busy while they caught a limit to take home for dinner. Catching them on live shrimp and artificial gulp soft plastics.
Its a great time for inshore fishing, as we get closer to spring it will only get better. Tarpon season is around the corner. I am already taking reservations for MID April- June. Book as early as you can for the best selection of dates. Contact me today… lets go fishing!
