Sheila loves a good fight behind the reel. We knew she would love tarpon, when we had her out on charter for the second time the silver king is what we were after. We set out late morning and right away we spotted a pod of fish. Crystal clear water, and these fish were swimming all around and under the boat. An amazing sight. Clear water isnt always the greatest when your trying to trick a 100lb fish into eating a live bait with a hook hanging out of it.
After only 20 minutes she was hooked up for the first time. Gorgeous fish jumping out of the water only feet from the boat. She got to feel the explosive run and see the massive size and strength this fish exerts as it leaps out of the water. This one didn't stay on the hook. A little more time passed and Sheila always tells us the fish don't bite till noon. At 12:00pm on the dot she hooked up to her second tarpon of the day.
Giving her a great jump, almost into a near by boat. This was a very intelligent fish. Using its weight and hiding underneath the boat to give Sheila a long battle. After 45 mins behind the reel this tarpon finally gave in. Captain Andrew got her fish boat side for a few photo's before its release
She successfully boated her tarpon using a Penn Battle 6000 on a Tsunami Air Wave Coastal Series Rod. Reel is filled with 50lb Bullbuster Braid ( 10% off with code "bigbullyoutdoors" at checkout) 60lb Fluorocarbon leader to a 6/0 circle hook. Congrats to Sheila on her first silver king, we wish you many more!
